We thought long and hard about how to celebrate and we decided to get a new fridge for each other for both our birthday's (as my 30th is next month), we gave each other a chunk of money to use as we see fit (Remmy bought some hand tools and other odds and ends for his toolbox), I got him a surprise pressie from the boys, we've arranged for him to go on a training flight in a glider this weekend (I have to call today and make sure the weather is going to be ok to go up tomorrow), we went out to lunch (just the four of us), and we had a mini-party after dinner with all my local family. I made him wear a badge saying 'birthday boy' and we had balloons and cake. I think he really enjoyed his day, despite initial disappointment that his dad couldn't make it over from WA as he had thought might be the case. We spent his 29th birthday in Melbourne visiting his dad and his brother's family. Sometimes I think he really misses not having 'his' family around, as would anyone surrounded by in-laws, I'd imagine!
